“Trainmen, New and Recent Paintings by David Swanson” opens 4/10 at The Ecce Gallery

April 7, 2008

One of my Web clients, David Swanson, has a show of new paintings at The Ecce Gallery in the Emerson Center, and I urge you to go see them. I’ve been very excited about the paintings since I saw them in progress in David’s studio last summer.

They represent something of a departure from previous work, but bring David back to one of the reasons he chose to live here in Livingston. “I love living in Livingston. Both Gillian [David’s wife] and I share an empathy for railroad towns. I like it that the railroad is a primary part of Livingston.”

David Swanson railroad paintingsYou can see the work online at David’s Web site but seeing these large works (oil on canvas) in person is highly recommended. The opening reception is Thursday, 4/10 from 6 to 8 PM and will include a railroad poetry reading by Nate Robinson, music by Lonesome Dave and Bill Devine, and hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer from The Emerson Grill. The show will hang through May 15, 2008. The Emerson Cultural Center is at 111 S Grand Ave, Bozeman.
